General Information[ | ]

Pickups are minor items found in the Abyss.

They will aid the player, enable item synergies and are required to interact with certain Objects during a run.

They can be found from the following sources:

  • semi-randomly placed in rooms.
  • dropped from any monster.
  • opening or destroying certain Objects.
  • as reward for clearing a Combat Room.
  • as a possible part of the reward of most Special Rooms.
  • sold in shops.
  • generated as part of an item effect.


Hearts[ | ]

Hearts restore their respective amount of empty heart containers. The player can have a maximum of eight heart containers.

Heart Heart Restores Heart (or HeartHeart if the player has Mercy Hood).
Half a heart Half a Heart Restores Half a heart (or Heart if the player has Mercy Hood).
Moldy heart Moldy Heart Either damages the player or restores Heart or does nothing. Restores HeartHeart if the player has Mercy Hood. Has a very small chance to grant the player an empty heart container.
Heart full Full Heart Restore Heart until full.
Heart winged Winged Heart Flies diagonally through the room and bounces off walls. Despawns after a couple seconds.
Restores Heart or HeartHeart if the player has Mercy Hood.

Shields[ | ]

Shields will add shields. The player can have a maximum of eight shields.

Crystals[ | ]

Crystals are used to interact with wisdom-devices, as well as fuel for most weapon abilities.

Coins[ | ]

Coins are used as general currency during a run to purchase Items in the Shop, interacting with gambling-devices or used by certain weapon abilities and item synergies. There are four different value coins to be found.

Keys are required to open locked Chests and Doors.

Key x2 Double Key Adds two Key when picked up.
Key rainbow Rainbow Key A special key only available on Level-? with the Ticket-3 layout. Is required to open the special doors on the floor.

Bombs[ | ]

Bombs are used to destroy certain Objects in the game, but can also be used offensively to kill enemies.

There are three elemental damage variants of the regular bomb, found in the later floors of the game or created via certain item interactions. These variants can be used like regular bombs regardless of their damage type. Pressing the Keyboard Q-key lets the player switch through the different types of bombs.

Bomb cold Cold Bomb Adds one Bomb cold when picked up. Deals cold damage, potentionally freezing enemies hit.
Bomb electric Electric Bomb Adds one Bomb electric when picked up. Deals electric damage, potentionally stunning enemies hit. Can also be used to interact with any gambling-device or Arcade Machine.
Bomb fire Fire Bomb Adds one Bomb fire when picked up. Deals fire damage, potentionally igniting enemies hit.

Pickups in this category don't quite fit in any other or their own category.

Egg Mystical Egg Adds one Egg when picked up. Eggs have a chance to hatch into random Pets after 2-3 Combat Rooms have been cleared.
Neon Coin Neon Coin Dropped randomly in the Abyss after the quest from Hades' assistant is completed. Used at the [Vending Machine]
Faith Gem Faith Gem Faith Gems drop from New Gods and Managers only and are used to unlock new Items, Game Rules and Characters in the Upgrade Trees. They can also be spent at the Ancient Statue to get a free trial of one or two items for the next run.
Abyss Gem Abyss Gem Once the Office is open, the player needs to collect twenty Abyss Gems for Hades' Assistant. They only drop from the Managers in the Abyss, and stop dropping once the player has finished the quest.
