Upgrades

General Information

Progression in Neon Abyss comes in the form of Upgrades and Unlocks. They can be purchased at the Bar by the player using Faith Gems in between runs.

All unlocks are distributed over 6 pages in total, that will gradually unlock the more upgrades are purchased by the player.

There are four different types of unlocks:

• Item Packs

Unlocking an item pack will unlock the item itself for future runs in the loot tables. It will also grant the player the unlocked item as a free trial for the next run. Many item packs will also grant a second (bonus) item for free upon purchase for the next run.

• Special Rooms

Rooms unlocked will be added to the map generation. These rooms have a minigame to play with different rewards. (see: Special Rooms)

• Rules

Rules usually add something to the game's rules. e.g.: unlocking the "Shopaholic" will alter shops to have +1 more item for sale.

• Characters

Each page contains one new character to unlock, making it a total of 6 unlockable characters.
